NOW ITS YOUR TURN

Hello and welcome to another edition of ACTS 29 TODAY:

I see a lot about making disciples today and discipleship, today I was reading in Luke 13: 24 this is Jesus talking and He said.

Strive to enter in by the narrow door [ force yourself  through it ] for many I tell you, will try to enter and not be able.

The first thing I see here is the word STRIVE to enter in, the word STRIVE means-make great efforts to achieve or obtain something and struggle or fight vigorously.

ssusELWHA--upstream

Even a dead fish can go down stream, but STRIVING, is swimming upstream, going against the flow, against the whole way of the world, mans way, and the flesh.

We know that Jesus is the door, and that is a narrow door and that only a few will find it, as anyone can go down the broad way, the wide way, and the easy way of life.

We will all have to FORCE OURSELVES THROUGH IT, WHY? because our flesh, our selfishness, and our pride does not want to go the JESUS way.

www.thebookofrevelation.net

We don’t JUST FLOAT THROUGH THE JESUS NARROW DOOR WITH NO EFFORT AT ALL. He said MANY WILL TRY…..and…..NOT B ABLE. To get though a narrow door is very difficult, and you cannot take anything with you [ baggage ] as it is hard enough just to get yourself through and with much effort.

Why R some not able? Because they want to hang onto everything they have that they hold so near and dear UNTO THEM SELVES. Here R a couple of things JESUS said about being His disciple.

Luke 14: 26 amp

26 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not [a]hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life [in the sense of indifference to or relative disregard for them in comparison with his attitude toward God]—he cannot be My disciple.

Jesus said he did not come to bring peace upon the earth but DIVISION, a father against the son, a mother against a daughter and so on. When we become a disciple of Jesus it will SEPARATE US FROM ALL OTHERS ON THE PLANET INCLUDING SOME IN OUR OWN FAMILY’S.

famsepimages

27 Whoever does not carry his own cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow after Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me] cannot be My disciple.

This is NOT, YOUR BEST LIFE NOW, this is what Jesus says about being a disciple. Its not SELF IMPROVEMENT, ITS SELF DENIAL [ DEATH TO SELF, SELFISHNESS, AND SELFIES ] ITS NOT BEING A BETTER YOU, ITS ABOUT YOU DISAPPEARING AND JESUS APPEARING TO EVERYONE ….THROUGH THE NEW YOU, THE YOU IN CHRIST.

prisonmessengers

Taking up the cross means the walk of the SPIRIT and the DEATH OF THE FLESH, we R crucified DAILY.

Then Jesus talks about COUNTING THE COST and the man who laid the foundation of a building but was not able to finish it, because he had not counted the COST that it would take to complete it.

33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not [carefully consider the cost and then for My sake] [b]give up all his own possessions.

ctcqol-sermon-04-400x400

Am I a disciple of Jesus? sometimes I wonder, and only by HIS grace and power through me will I B able to force my way through the JESUS door, LEAVING ALL ELSE BEHIND FOR HIS SAKE.

It may B a high cost to follow Jesus, BUT NOT FOLLOWING HIM IS A MUCH HIGHER PRICE TO PAY.

Thanks for your time, and as always:

NO ONE CARES HOW MUCH YOU KNOW.                                                                        UNTIL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE…….

ACTS 29 TODAY

now its YOUR turn

How did the Greek sermon find its way into the Christian church?

About the 3rd century mutual ministry began to fade from the body of Christ, also at this time the last of the traveling Christian workers who spoke out of a prophetic burden and spontaneous conviction left the pages of church history.

housechurch_1

To fill the absence, the CLERGY began to emerge, and open meetings began to die out. The meetings became more and more liturgical (a standardized order of events observed during a religious service).

As a top down structure began to emerge the idea of a “RELIGIOUS SPECIALIST” began to take root. In the face of these changes, the FUNCTIONING believer had trouble fitting into this evolving ecclesiastical structure.

There was no place for them to exercise their gifts, and by the 4th century the Church had become fully institutionalized (established as part of an official organization ) or as I see it HAD THE LIFE BLOOD SUCKED OUT OF IT.

Preaching

As this was happening many pagan orators and philosophers were becoming Christians, as a result, pagan philosophical ideas made there way into the Christian community. Many of these men became the leaders of the Christian church at that time, and are known as the “church fathers”  and some of their writings are still with us,

Thus the needle and the damage done, the pagan notion of a trained, professional speaker who delivered orations for a fee moved straight into the the Christian bloodstream.

The paid specialist idea came from the Greek, not Judaism. The custom of the Jewish rabbi was to take up a trade as not to have to charge for their service of teaching.

Now the former pagan orators (turned Christian) began to use their skills for Christian purposes. They would sit in their official chair and expound the Scriptures.

So a new style of communication was being birthed into the church, a style that EMPHASIZED POLISHED RHETORIC, SOPHISTICATED GRAMMAR, FLOWERY ELOQUENCE, (CHEESY)… AND MONOLOG.

It was a style designed to ENTERTAIN AND SHOW OFF THE SPEAKERS SPEAKING SKILLS (YUK). It was Greco- Roman rhetoric.

And ONLY THOSE WHO WHERE TRAINED IN IT WERE ALLOWED TO ADDRESS THE ASSEMBLY. (starting to sound familiar now?)

Lakewood-Church

What happened was….WHEN THE ORATORICAL SCHOOLS OF THE WESTERN WORLD LAID HOLD OF THE CHRISTIAN MESSAGE….THEY MADE CHRISTIAN PREACHING INTO SOMETHING VASTLY DIFFERENT.

ORATORY TOOK THE PLACE OF CONVERSATION.

THE GREATNESS OF THE ORATOR TOOK THE PLACE OF THE ASTOUNDING EVENT OF JESUS CHRIST.

And the DIALOG BETWEEN SPEAKER AND LISTENER FADED INTO A MONOLOG (ONE MAN BAND)

is it over yet

In a word, the Greco-Roman SERMON replaced prophesying, open sharing, and spirit inspired teaching.

Now fast forward…neither homilies (sermons) or homiletics (the art of sermonizing) HAVE ANY CHRISTIAN OR BIBLICAL ORIGINS.

THEY WERE STOLEN FROM THE PAGANS. (commonly taught in most of the bible schools in our day)

THUS A ….. POLLUTED STREAM MADE ITS WAY INTO THE CHRISTIAN FAITH AND…MUDDIED ITS WATERS.

AND THAT STEAM FLOWS JUST AS STRONGLY TODAY AS IT DID IN THE 4TH CENTURY.

Well enough for this time WOW amazing what history can show us, and answered a ton of questions for me, and I hope you to.

God bless you as you take your part in writing your chapter 29.

quill-pen-and-inkwellHELLO AND WELCOME TO ANOTHER EDITION OF

ACTS 29 TODAY

(now its your turn)

It is clear that the Protestant order of worship did not originate with the Lord Jesus, the Apostles, or the new testament Scriptures. This does not mean that the order is misguided, it just means it has NO BIBLICAL BASIS.

Pews and carpets also have no Biblical support either and are of pagan origins, but who would argue that chairs or carpets are wrong just because they have no Biblical support.

So why is Sunday morning any different than the type of chairs or color of the carpeting?

BECAUSE IT IS UNSCRIPTURAL AND DOES NOT LEAD TO THE SPIRITUAL GROWTH THAT GOD INTENDED.

Consider the following.

The order of protestant services represses mutual participation and the growth of the Christian community.

It puts a choke hold on the functioning body of Christ…BY SILENCING ITS MEMBERS.

If you operated scripturaly in the meeting you would be declared out of order and ask to stop you sharing or ask to leave.

The protestant order of service also STRANGLES THE HEADSHIP OF JESUS, THE ENTIRE SERVICE IS DIRECTED BY ONE PERSON.

You are limited by the knowledge and gifting and experience of ONE PERSON…THE PASTOR ( or PLASTER as they say in Thailand, kind of prophetic if you think about it).

So once again the service turns into one HUGE TONGUE…THE PASTOR, AND MANY LITTLE EARS…THE CONGREGATION.

Preaching

Hardly the vision of what Paul was talking about where EVERY MEMBER IN THE BODY FUNCTIONS.

For many members of the congregation the Sunday morning service is shamefully BORING. Without variety or spontaneity, highly predictable, highly perfunctory, and highly mechanical. Little freshness or innovation, and has remained frozen for 5 centuries.

To put it bluntly…….the service empowers the power of ROTE, and the rote quickly decays into the ROUTINE, that in turn becomes TIRED, MEANINGLESS, AND ULTIMATELY INVISIBLE.

is it over yet

is it over yet

Seeker sensitive churches have taken a large market share of the American protestant population. They realized that something had to change, and so they (MAN) added A VAST ARRAY OF MEDIA, THEATRICAL, and ELECTRONIC PRODUCTIONS INTO THE SERVICE.

But despite the added entertainment factor, the service is still held captive by the Pastor, song leader led worship, and the people remain muted spectators ( although now they are more entertained in there SPECTATING.

Lakewood-Church

The Sunday morning meeting that you sit thru year after year, actually HINDERS SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION.

Because it:

encourages passivity.

limits functioning.

And implies that putting in your 1, 3, or 5 hours a week is the key to a victorious Christian life.

The new Testament NEVER LINKS SITTING THROUGH AN OSSIFIED RITUAL THAT WE MISLABEL….CHURCH….AS HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH.

SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION.

WE (THE CHURCH, YOU AND I ) GROW BY FUNCTIONING, NOT BY PASSIVELY WATCHING OR LISTENING.
