COMING TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH

Ok last time we finished up on the love of self and saw in the story of Gideon that GOD tested his Army (remember its so important to let GOD CHOOSE THOSE WHO WILL B ON YOUR TEAM) and the FEARFUL AND TREMBLING, AND THE SELFISH WERE SENT HOME to watch the great victory of Gideon on the 10 o clock news. (these 2 kinds of people will NOT BE IN GODS END TIME ARMY).
The Angel of the Lord was sent to find a man to take part in a GOD POWERED IMPOSSIBLE IN MANS EYES PROJECT. Natural man always picks the best qualified man, whereas GOD always qualifies the man He picks to best show GODS power.
So Gideon is visited by the Angel while hiding in a wine press beating some wheat to get some grains of food.
THE 1ST THING IN THE WHOLE PROCESS OF GIDEON’S TRANSFORMATION FROM HIDING TO HERO IS…………...IDENTITY, GOD HAS TO GET GIDEON UP TO SPEED ON WHO HE REALLY IS IN GODS EYES, AND IT WILL B THE SAME FOR US ALSO.
Numbers 6:11 Now the [a]Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, and his son Gideon was beating wheat in the wine press [instead of the threshing floor] to [hide it and] save it from the Midianites. 12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The
Lord is with you, O brave man.” 13 But Gideon said to him, “Please my lord, if the
Lord is with us, then why has all this happened to us? And where are all His wondrous works which our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us into the
hand of Midian.” 14 The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?” 15 But Gideon
said to Him, “Please Lord, how am I to rescue Israel? Behold, my family is the least [significant] in Manasseh, and I am the youngest (smallest) in my father’s house.” 16 The Lord
answered him, “I will certainly be with you, and you will strike down the Midianites as [if they were only] one man.” 17 Gideon replied to Him, “If I have
found any favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who speaks with me. 18 Please do not depart from here until I come back to You, and bring my offering and place it before You.” And He said, “I will wait until you return.”
One translation says, the LORD is with you…YOU MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR…..and at hearing this Gideon goes off in a thing about if GOD is with us then why is all of this stuff happening to us, because what hes really thinking is ……MIGHTY MAN OF
VALOR…..WHO IS THIS GUY TALKING TO…..IS THERE SOMEONE ELSE HERE I
DON’T SEE, I THINK THIS GUY HAS THE WRONG TREE ( ADDRESS)…….BECAUSE
THERE IS……. FOR SURE, NO… MIGHTY MAN….. OF VALOR HERE.
WAIT….WHAT….
Identity is so so very important, because we tend to live up to the standard of who we believe we are , and that identity is also greatly effected by what others think we are and what they say about us.
Words are CONTAINERS, they build us up, or they tear us down, bring in fear, or bring in faith, encourage us or bring depression, bring in love or bring in hate.
there is a CHILDREN’S RHYME that says…STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES….BUT WORDS WILL NEVER HURT ME.
Nothing could B further from the truth, words can KILL YOU. And we have all had to deal with certain words spoken to and over us, and it is important to break off every word that was spoken against us, but that is for a different time.
One thing about GOD that I have noticed is….He does not waste words or get off message. He comes directly to the point and never gets sidetracked, no matter what we might say, He just keeps on with His message. So no matter what Gideon’s excuses are (and He had many, and so do we) the Angels message is just the same on going theme, THE LORD IS WITH YOU, YOU MIGHTY MAN AND YOU WILL DEFEAT THE Midianites AS ONE MAN.
So the 1st thing GOD does is start off with getting Gideon’s IDENTITY RIGHT, BECAUSE IF WE, OR GIDEON, DON’T KNOW….WHO WE ARE…THEN IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO COMPLETE THE TASK SET BEFORE US.
Gideon has to come to the place where he believes he is….THAT MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR……THEN HE WILL ACT LIKE THAT MAN, but at this point he is not buying it at all.

coming to the knowledge of the TRUTH

As promised I am bringing you today a very important TRUTH that took me a long time to get (much praying in tongues for edification the REVELATION GIFT, AND MEDITATION on these scriptures).
The story of Gideon (Numbers 6-8) always fascinated me because GOD TOOK AN ORDINARY MAN who was NOT IN ANY WAY THINKING OF BEING USED BY GOD TO DELIVER A NATION, AND RAISE HIM UP TO B A MIGHTY WARRIOR.
In short the nation of Israel was being disobedient to God by fearing the gods of the Amorites, and as a result they were being greatly oppressed by the Midianites and the Amalekites. So much so that they were hiding in caves and the enemy would come in and destroy all of their crops and make life totally miserable for them.
Now like us….when they got so miserable that they could not take it anymore…..THEY CRIED OUT TO GOD (HELLO) SOUND FAMILIAR.
So GOD sends a PROPHET (not a profit) but a REAL PROPHET, and tells them of GODS mighty works on their behalf, but they are not obeying GODS commands.
So the angel of the LORD visits a guy named Gideon, who is HIDING IN THE WINE PRESS, beating some wheat to hide it from the enemy. Then there is a whole process that GOD goes thru to help Gideon know he is the chosen one to deliver Israel.
Then GOD goes thru a process of choosing the army that will fight with Gideon to defeat the enemy… (very important that we let god choose the ones who will fight with us) ….who by the way it says of… the enemy…. they…..COULD NOT B NUMBERED THERE WERE SO MANY OF THEM.
7:2 Then the Lord said to Gideon, “There are too many people with you for Me to hand over Midian to them, otherwise Israel will boast [about themselves] against Me, saying, ‘My own [g]power has rescued me.’ 3 So now, proclaim in the hearing of the people, ‘Whoever is afraid and trembling, let him turn back and leave Mount Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand men returned [home], but ten thousand remained.
7:4 Then the Lord said to Gideon, “There are still too many people; bring them down to the water and I will test them for you there. Therefore it shall be that he of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go with you; but everyone of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.” 5 So he brought the people down to the water, and the Lord said to Gideon, “You shall separate everyone who laps the water with his tongue as a dog laps, as well as everyone who kneels down to drink.” 6 Now the number of those who lapped [the water], putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men, but all the rest of the people kneeled down to drink water. 7 And the Lord told Gideon, “With the three hundred men who lapped I will rescue you, and will hand over the Midianites to you. Let all the other people go, each man to his home.
It was easy to understand the first test of GODS ARMY, IF YOU ARE….FEARFUL AND TREMBLING…..GO HOME.
Now He started with….32,000 men and after the first test 22,000 went home fearful and trembling. Many today will not be a part of GODS END TIME ARMY FOR THE SAME REASON.
The next test was the one I could not figure out, WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRINGING THE WATER UP TO YOUR MOUTH AND DRINKING…..OR KNEELING DOWN AND DRINKING?
I thought, well bringing the water up to your mouth you would be aware of what was happening around you and so that was being wise, but it seemed like there had to B more and there was.
One day while I was meditating AGAIN and going thru the drinking story with the Holy Spirit, I got to the part about kneeling down to drink, and the Holy Spirit said, WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU SEE WHEN YOU KNEEL DOWN TO THE WATER TO DRINK.
HE SAID….BINGO
I WAS LIKE….WOW…..THAT IS SO GOD, I COULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT IN A THOUSAND YEARS.
CONCLUSION:) DENY YOURSELF, TAKE UP YOUR CROSS, THEN….WE CAN FOLLOW JESUS.
NEXT TIME LETS GO THRU THE PROCESS GOD TOOK GIDEON THRU TO GET HIM FROM……DOUBTER…..TO…DELIVERER….FROM HIDING…TO HERO.
AND REMEMBER JESUS SAID…HE WOULD RATHER HAVE YOU…HOT….OR COLD….BUT lukewarm HE WOULD SPIT YOU OUT OF HIS MOUTH.
HOT IS REFRESHING, COLD IS REFRESHING, LUKEWARM IS NAUSEATING.
ALWAYS BE REFRESHING IN LIFE TOWARDS JESUS.

“I got frustrated at a point, just biblically,” Chan told the group at Facebook, as the Christian Post reports. “I’m going wait a second. According to the Bible, every single one of these people has a supernatural gift that’s meant to be used for the body. And I’m like 5,000 people show up every week to hear my gift, see my gift. That’s a lot of waste. Then I started thinking how much does it cost to run this thing? Millions of dollars!”
“I was like, ‘God, you wanted a church that was known for their love. You wanted a group of people where everyone was expressing their gifts. … We’re a body. I’m one member, maybe I’m the mouth. But if the mouth is the only thing that’s working and … I’m trying to drag the rest of the body along, chewing on the carpet …”
Chan got really vulnerable about the pride that came with the success of his book, Crazy Love, and how he desperately wanted to return to the person he once was. “I freaked out during that time in my life,” Chan recalled. “The pride … [going to] a conference and seeing my face on a magazine … and hearing whispers … and walking in the room and actually liking it.”
“Everything you (God) said you hated, that’s me right now,” he realized. “I gotta get out of here. I’m losing my soul.”
Now Chan is doing something completely different from his former megachurch venture. Called “We Are Church,” Chan is leading a group of 30 unpaid pastors who are pastoring about 15 different house churches in the San Francisco area. Each church is set up to be small, to build real community and prompt people to use their gifts.
“We’ve got a few hundred people now and it costs nothing,” Chan explained. “And everyone’s growing and everyone’s having to read this book (Bible) for themselves and people actually caring for one another. I don’t even preach. They just meet in their homes, they study, they pray, they care for one another. They’re becoming the church and I’m just loving it and realizing that these 30 guys [are] leading this and the women as well.”

COMING TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH

Jesus said if you want (its your decision)to B my disciple( ONE WHO FOLLOWED AFTER JESUS) you must:
25 Now large crowds were going along with Jesus; and He turned and said to them,
leaders today love large crowds and will say anything nice to keep them…not Jesus
26 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not [a]hate his own father and mother and wife
and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life [in the sense of
indifference to or relative disregard for them in comparison with his attitude toward
God]—he cannot be My disciple. 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross
[expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow after Me
[believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or
perhaps dying because of faith in Me] cannot be My disciple.
IT COST NOTHING TO GO WITH JESUS, IN FACT IT WAS EXCITING TO GO WITH HIM AND SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN, OR GET SOME FREE FOOD, BUT WHEN IT CAME TO BECOMING A DISCIPLE, THE GREAT MULTITUDES DISAPPEARED.
WE CAN NOT LET ANYTHING COME BETWEEN OUR LOVE AND DEVOTION TO JESUS FIRST, EVEN OUR OWN FAMILY. Jesus said they who do the will of God was his family.
WE WERE FLYING FROM LAS VEGAS TO COSTA RICA TO DO SOME MINISTRY THERE AND IT WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE OUR FLIGHT. WE WERE DOING SOME LAST MINUTE SHOPPING AND IT WAS ABOUT 9PM WHEN I GOT A PHONE CALL THAT MY MOTHER WAS DYING FROM A STROKE AT AN ELDERLY CARE HOME IN WASHINGTON STATE.
SOME OF MY CHILDREN WERE THERE AND OTHERS AND THEY WERE BEGGING ME TO GET HER TO THE HOSPITAL, BUT SHE HAD ALREADY MADE THE DECISION EARLIER TO NOT HAVE ANY EMERGENCY CARE IN THE EVENT OF A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE.
SO THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO ABOUT THAT, IT WAS ASSUMED THAT AFTER SHE PASSED AWAY LATER THAT NIGHT THAT I WOULD CANCEL OUR TRIP AND GO BACK TO WASHINGTON.
ALL OF THE ARRANGEMENTS WERE ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF FOR WHEN SHE WOULD MOVE TO HEAVEN AND SO THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE THERE AND SHE WOULD HAVE WANTED ME TO GO ON WITH WHAT GOD HAD PLANNED FOR ME IN COSTA RICA, SO WE WENT ON WITH THE TRIP.
AM I GOING TO DO WHAT MY FAMILY WANTS….OR WHAT JESUS WANTS, AND IT SEEMS MANY CAN NOT MAKE THAT DECISION AND THEY STAY ON THE SIDE OF FAMILY.
SO WE ARE BEGINNING TO SEE THAT BEING A TRUE DISCIPLE OF JESUS IS WAY MORE THAN A 12 STEP PROGRAM OR SOME DISCIPLESHIP CLASS. INTERESTINGLY I DID A SEARCH ON GOOGLE ABOUT THE 3 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO BEING A DISCIPLE OF JESUS…..AND NOT ONE OF THE FIRST PAGE RESULTS HAD THE REQUIREMENTS THAT JESUS GAVE TO BECOME HIS DISCIPLE.
IT SEEMS IF WE PREACH THE SAME REQUIREMENTS OF BEING A DISCIPLE THAT JESUS GAVE, THE RESULTS ARE THE SAME, THE GREAT CROWD’S OF PEOPLE THAT WANT TO GO ALONG WITH JESUS, BE SPECTATORS OF JESUS, AND GET SOME FREE FOOD, WILL BE THE SAME…..WHEN IT COMES TO DENYING YOUR SELF, TAKING UP THE CROSS, AND FOLLOWING JESUS………..
THEY WILL ALL BE GONE.
ONE TIME WHEN JESUS TALKED ABOUT EATING HIS FLESH AND DRINKING HIS BLOOD THE GREAT CROWDS ALL LEFT AND THEN HE SAID TO HIS DISCIPLES WILL YOU ALSO LEAVE ME, AND THEY SAID:
I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF A TRUE DISCIPLE OF JESUS …..YET, BUT BY HIS GRACE (GODS ABILITY TO DO IN AND THRU ME WHAT I CAN NOT TO IN AND OF MYSELF) I AM GETTING CLOSER EVERYDAY TO DENYING MYSELF, AND TAKING UP THE CROSS AND WITH OUT THESE 2 THINGS WE WILL NEVER BE DISCIPLES OF JESUS……………………… WE MAY B SPECTATORS BUT NOT DISCIPLES.
is it over yet
NEXT TIME I WILL SHARE SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT ABOUT SELF AND HOW IT WILL EFFECT OUR FUTURES IN GODS ARMY IN THESE LAST DAYS.
AND REMEMBER: EVE WAS NOT TEMPTED BY THE EVIL…..SHE WAS TEMPTED BY THE GOOD.
