Acts 29 Today

My friend Roger Thoman,s article was very timely for me, so I felt led to share his points from my own journey in the hopes that it will help someone as they progress along their journey.

The 7 points here can happen more than once in a lifetime or just once but I found that I could easily locate where I am at present with these points.

This will B a series of posts starting with # 1 and as I am not currently out of # 6 I cannot post on # 7 until it happens in my life.

1. Passion. Nothing matters like passion from start to finish. When God found me, changed me, and filled me with Himself, I had no greater desire than that others experience the same. The reality that there were whole people groups who never would have this opportunity unless the Gospel was taken to them caused me to be smitten with the longing to do just that. (Rodger Thoman)

This is Larry writing now, and as to this 1st point, PASSION….I to was very radically, dynamically, and forever changed when at 22 I was born the second time, filled with His wonderful Holy Spirit, and baptized in water.

I literally went from a drug dealing, drug using, and full time hippie lifestyle in southern California…..to a born again, Spirit filled, and baptized in water believer in less than 2 months. A night to day change and everyone who knew me saw the change and wondered what on earth happened to Larry (not their exact words).

I had the revelation that there was a God while watching the sunsets in San Diego in 1971, then in Jan of 1972 I left that all behind and moved back to the Northwet, oops I mean Northwest (it rains all the time). It was there that I prayed that if you R real Jesus show me somehow as I really need to know, I then ask Him to forgive me of all my sins and come into my life and if you R real please let me know. I want to just add this, as I know there is some controversy about the exact, correct, and technical way to get saved. Just know this JESUS KNOWS A DESPERATE AND SINCERE HEART, IF YOU R CALLING ON HIM TO SAVE YOU, HE WILL NOT TURN YOU AWAY, I MIGHT NOT HAVE DONE IT THE RELIGIOUSLY CORRECT WAY….BUT HE SAW MY HEART…AND I WAS BORN AGAIN BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD AND NEVER TO B THE SAME AGAIN. (now over 44 years).

About then I felt like 10 million pounds was lifted of my shoulders, and I cannot even put into words the light that came into my life, but for months after that I had to wear sunglasses at night when driving as the lights were so bright to me.Needless to say I was born for the second time by the Spirit of GOD and translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.

Everything I did and everywhere I went people soon learned what had happened to me, and as one of the first hippies to get saved in my location, I was some spectacle to behold when I first came into the building where the Church was meeting on Sunday mornings. I think it was the long hair and beard that had something to do with it.

From the very early days of my being born again, I knew 2 things for sure…JESUS WAS COMING SOON…..and….I WOULD MOST LIKELY DIE A MARTYR,and these 2 things were imprinted on my spirit indelibly.

I was so completely transformed by this experience, I knew that GOD would consume my whole life and all I wanted to do was to live and serve HIM for the rest of my life. The fires of PASSION HAD BEEN IGNITED AND WHERE BURNING BRIGHTLY.
